Having Chemo Right Now.

Having my first day of a new type of chemo infused through my chest port.  First part of the infusion made me a little nauseous when I coughed due to a mild cold but the feeling went away.  I have pills for nausea but I haven’t needed them yet because it’s not that bad.  Need to sit here for about three hours.  Some of my fellow patients don’t seem that patient and are a little rude to the poor nurses.  Good thing the nurses are experienced baloney artists and have thick skins.

The plan is to give me the two chemo drugs over three days every other week.  One drug is given in the hospital over three hours and the other drug is given with an at home pump.  Have to make sure my cat doesn’t bite the line in half while I am sleeping which would cause a true hazmat situation and may even harm the cat.

My traveling home nurse was unable to change the silver coated dressing on my caboose yesterday because of a severe snowstorm.  They would have changed it here in the hospital but I didn’t bring it along.

I can’t touch or eat anything cold for the next two days because of the kind of chemo that I am getting.  Apparently it can cause a bad burning sensation?  Good to know before I drink my ice cold mountain dew!  They are bringing me some room temperature snacks and cranberry juice to chow down on while I am fully reclined in the lazy boy type chair.  Living the sweet life for the next few hours.  I don’t even get this type of luxurious service at home.  If I turn my phone off no one would even be able to contact me from the outside world.  Might as well enjoy the good service and restful atmosphere.
